- Sarri is expected to make a return to Italy this summer to succeed Max Allegri at Juventus
- His imminent departure from Stamford Bridge has brewed a major succession battle at Chelsea
- It has been claimed Chelsea staff are at the crossroads over who should be next manager
Chelsea staff appear conflicted on who should take over as club manager should Maurizio Sarri depart this summer.
Sarri has been tipped to make a sensational return to Italy after just one season with the Blues to join Juventus.
According to reports, the Italian tactician looks certain to replace Massimiliano Allegri in Turin and a deal could be reached soon.
His move to Serie A has opened doors for Allegri to replace Sarri at Stamford Bridge along with ex-player Frank Lampard and Ajax's Erik ten Hag.
However, according to a report by UK Mirror citing Bleacher reporter Dean Jones, conflict of interest has taken centre stage in the Chelsea backroom pitting the coaching and playing staff and the board of directors over the next manager.
Jones claimed "people on the ground" are keen to have Lampard take over the reigns, but the club's hierarchy believe that could be a huge risk.
"People on the ground at Chelsea's training base are keen for Lampard to become the next manager. It's the big bosses in offices that have more concern about it being too risky," Jones tweeted.
Lampard made his managerial debut this season with Derby County and nearly guided the Championship side to Premier League promotion, losing in the playoff final to Aston Villa.
He is a famous figure at Stamford Bridge having enjoyed a relatively successful football career with the Blues spanning to 13 years.
Be that as it may, there are those who view Allegri as the right man for the job owing to his much more managerial experience than Lampard.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri had threatened to walk out of his contract if winning the Europa League was the only condition to keep his job.
The Blues battled fellow Premier League side Arsenal in the final of UEFA second tier championship next week in Azerbaijan.
