Disturbed by the alleged provocative attacks by those it described as herdsmen, Concerned Pan-Igbo organisation has called on Ndigbo to be ready for self-defence.
The organisation made this call in a memo released in Enugu on Sunday, June 9, and signed by its conveners led by Professor Uzodimma Nwala of Alaigbo Development Forum (ADF), The Nation reports.
The groups also raised alarm over alleged attempt to "enslave" Ndigbo and the country entirely through a "bloody islamization and jihad.''
It, however called on Igbo race in Nigeria and diapora to remain vigilant amid alleged continuous attacks on the country by herdsmen.
Legit.ng notes that the call followed a similar plea earlier made by the apex Igbo organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
Part of the memo read: “That there is obvious agenda of a bloody Islamization and jihad to conquer, occupy, take over and enslave Alaigbo and elsewhere in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“That Ndigbo should do everything in their power to defend themselves, their wives, children and their ancestral land.
“That Ndigbo should seek possible working relationship with other nationalities to ensure collective defence of their territories from the jihadists.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that former president Olusegun Obasanjo had come under fire afresh from a southwest group Yoruba Ronu Leadership Forum which accused him of crying wolf when there is none over alleged gradual Fulanisation and Islamisation of Nigeria.
The forum discarded Obasanjo's alarm saying on Wednesday, June 5 that land displacements and reprisals are responsible for Fulani-related clashes in northern Nigeria.
