The Sokoto state House of Assembly has confirmed 26 nominees presented to it by Governor Aminu Tambuwal as commissioners.
Daily Trust reports that Sagir, the eldest son of former Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa and Abdulsamad Dasuki who is the son of late Sultan of Sokoto and member of the 8th National Assembly are among the fresh names on the list.
Also on the list were the outgoing Speaker of Sokoto state House of Assembly, Salihu Maidaji and the immediate past Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Bashir Garba, as well as many other people who served as commissioners during Tambuwal’s first term.
Tambuwal had in the letter to the assembly said the persons so recommended for the appointments were of proven integrity and dedication who have served the state and nation in various capacities.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto promised to run an all inclusive and "cabal-free government," while thanking the people of the state for re-electing him.
Speaking with journalists after he was declared winner of the Sokoto governorship election, the former speaker said his government will be run by the spirit of renewed confidence the people of Sokoto reposed in him.
He attributed his victory to "God's work," adding that all fences will be mended to facilitate development to the seat of caliphate state.
