- The committee, headed by Abraham Nwankwo, is also saddled with the responsibility of reviewing the operations of the Imo State Board of Internal Revenue
Governor Emeka Ihedioha of Imo on Thursday, June 6, set up a financial advisory committee of eight persons led by Abraham Nwankwo to determine and record the locations and balances on all bank accounts operated by the state government's ministries, departments and agencies as at Wednesday, May 29.
Moreover, the eight-man committee is to look into all financial transactions and if need be, do a forensic audit in order to discover the origins of funds and how they were spent, Channels Television reports.
The committee, according to a statement signed by Uche Onyeagocha, the secretary to the state government, is also in charge of detailing all revenues generated as well as allocations between 2011 and 2019 and review the justification given for state expenditures within the said period.
Even more, the committee is to review all fund disbursements and applications of the state's resources to verify the charges placed on accounts, interest payment on loans and deposits where applicable and authorization and review the operations of the Imo State Board of Internal Revenue so as to proffer strategies to bring about optimum performance and continuous growth in the agency.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Ihedioha on Monday, June 3, gave his last warning for handover from Okorocha.
The newly sworn-in governor, Ihedioha spoke at the Government House in Owerri, during the swearing in of the secretary to the state government, Uche Onyeagucha, and chief of staff, Chris Okewulonu.
