The senator representing Zamfara Central, Kabiru Garba Marafa, has said that he does not regret his insistence that the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not conduct primaries in October 2018.

The senator said the people are happy with the Supreme Court’s ruling that removed all elected members of the APC in the state, Daily Trust reports.

It should be noted that Marafa’s court action led to the verdict that upturned the reported primaries of the party in the state.

While speaking at the end of the 8th Senate on Thursday, June 6, Marafa said he did not intend that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will be the benefiting party of his action.

“I have no regret over what I did. I was born to fight, and I’ll continue to fight. The people of Zamfara state are happy with what happened,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that the crisis rocking the APC in Zamfara took a new twist on Monday, June 3, with the party in the state expelling Senator Kabiru Marafa.

Marafa, who represents Zamfara Central, was expelled with Ibrahim Wakkala, the deputy to immediate past governor, Abdulaziz Yari. Also expelled, according to a statement from the party, is the legislator representing Kauran Namoda/Birnin Magaji constituency at the House of Representatives, Aminu Jaji.

In the expulsion letter signed by Shehu Isah, the spokesperson of the APC in Zamfara, the politicians allegedly engaged in anti-party activities and this was arrived at during a state executive council meeting.

Isah quoted article 21 (A)ii and (D)v of the APC constitution to back the decision of the party.

According to him, the cited provision frowns against members taking the party to the court. He urged the public to be aware of the party’s decision.
