The All Progressives Congress (APC) has been cautioned by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on what the latter described as the ruling party’s self-inflicted woes.

The opposition party stated this in a statement released by its national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Wednesday, June 5, Channels reports.

Legit.ng gathers that the PDP released the statement in reaction to a statement released by the APC, slamming it.

The opposition party asked the APC to stop attempting to save face by dragging its name into the ruling party’s own internal crisis.

The party said: “The PDP notes that the APC, by bringing out its dirty linen to the market place at this time, has again demonstrated its insensitivity and contempt towards the values and feelings of Nigerians.

“How else can it justify its choice of fouling the national space at a time compatriots are observing the blessings of Eid el fitr?

“It is most reprehensible that after pushing Nigerians into anguish and economic misery, the crisis-ridden APC will not allow our people to celebrate the end of Ramadan in peace.”

The PDP asserted that it’s a responsible party and won’t join the APC in its shameless dance.

It urged the APC to answer for its alleged looting of the nation’s treasury in the last four years and failures.

The opposition party pointed out that the APC chairman had previously declared that one’s sins are forgiven once they join the ruling party.

The PDP said: “It has also become clear to Nigerians that the APC is fixated on the PDP and has become feverish by the reinvention of the PDP to serve the interest of the people.

“This is in addition to the fact that majority of Nigerians now believe more in our party, the PDP, after seeing through the lies, deceit and failures of the APC and its government.

“The APC must face the truism that having divided our people, wrecked our once robust economy, returned our nation to a debtor status and brought so much misery to the extent that our compatriots now resort to suicide and slavery mission abroad as options, Nigerians cannot continue to lend it any support.

“The determined optimism expressed by majority of Nigerians for the retrieval of our stolen presidential mandate at the tribunal, as well as the spontaneous jubilation across the country over the victory of the PDP in state governorship elections show that the people are eager to have the PDP back at the saddle of governance.”

The PDP insisted that it remained a people-oriented party and while in office, it was dedicated to the well-being of the people; saving the country from a pariah status, paying off foreign debts, and growing the economy to become one of the fastest growing, globally.

According to the PDP, instead of always looking for scapegoats where none exists, the APC should seek restitution for the misery it has caused the nation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that the APC accused it’s former national chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, of lacking the courage to confront political despots who couldn’t abide by the party’s rules.

The national publicity secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the PDP bounced back because the APC did not live up to expectations.
