The legislator suggests the return of the current leadership of the House of Assembly led by Mudashiru Obasa
The House of Representatives member-elect for Apapa federal constituency, Mufutau Egberongbe, has said Governor Sanwo-Olu of Lagos requires experienced lawmakers to meet his dream of a greater Lagos.
Egberongbe, who spoke in an interview, said being a first term governor with such passionate zeal to further build and sustain the economy of Lagos, Sanwo-Olu would need the support of a House of Assembly headed by an experienced lawmaker.
He argued that the return of the current speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, would help the ninth Assembly and the state government adding that there is no time to experiment with experience.
“I have to suggest that the current speaker of the Lagos Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa, should be returned because there is no time for experimentation and this would make it better as the governor is coming for the first term. We need an experienced speaker to work with him,” Hon Egberongbe said.
He expressed optimism that the ninth House of Assembly of Lagos state would be a virile one as almost all the old members are returning,
“In the last session, we had eight members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before they crossed to the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the ninth Assembly is starting with everybody being members of the APC.
“They would have the same focus and ideas. This would give them more opportunities and things would be done quickly because they would all be on the same page as they are from the same political party with the governor of the state.
“What would have taken us back is if we had a new governor and new Assembly members,” he said.
