Alex Ferguson had believed Jurgen Klopp would be a successful coach even before German's success at Liverpool.
Ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher revealed that the legendary Manchester United manager was full of admiration for Klopp during his spell with Borussia Dortmund.
Carragher claimed Ferguson believed the German tactician would be capable of producing something special at Anfield before he was employed.
Ferguson and Klopp were among a selection of coaches, past and present, at a UEFA managerial conference back in 2014 and left an impression on the legendary Scot.
When Carragher sought out Ferguson to learn more, the 13-time Premier League winner told the Liverpool icon: “He’s got something about him. He is very confident.”
Writing in his Telegraph column the day after Liverpool's latest European triumph, Carragher said: "There was a look of genuine admiration for Klopp, accompanied by that added hint of concern, telling me all I needed.
“'If Fergie is worried, this guy must be the real deal,' I thought."

Carragher continued: "Klopp, still a relatively young coach at the time, attended as Dortmund manager and was not in awe of the successful, more illustrious names around him.
"On the contrary, he was opinionated, forthright and, by all accounts, deeply impressive on a range of subjects. Sir Alex noted it."
With Liverpool's success in the Champions League, Klopp has now accomplished a tangible reward after four years on Merseyside in the shape of a trophy as Man United and the Reds now have 42 trophies apiece.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Liverpool fans traveled to Merseyside in thousands on Sunday, June 2, to attend the club's Champions League victory parade through the city.
The Reds defeated Premier League rivals Tottenham 2-0, to win their sixth Champions League title.
