Tiv community in UK charges Governor Ortom on security

- Some members of the Tiv community in the United Kingdom have charged Governor Samuel Ortom on the safety and protection of the Benue people

- The Tivs in diaspora urged the governor to make the security of lives and property in the state his priority

- According to the Tivs, residents of Benue state found Ortom worthy by recognising his efforts in bringing enduring peace and economic development by re-electing him

The Tiv people resident in the United Kingdom have called on Governor Samuel Ortom to pay more attention to the security of life and property of the people of Benue State

The individuals under the aegis of Mzough U Tiv UK (MUTUK), charged the governor to implement policies that will improve infrastructure, health, education and agriculture in the state.

A statement signed by the publicity secretary of MUTUK, Salome Sulleyol Biam, quoted the president of the group, Kohol Iornem, as saying that the people of Benue in the UK have expressed happiness over Ortom's re-election.

Iornem said residents of Benue state found Ortom worthy by recognising his efforts in bringing enduring peace and economic development by re-electing him to serve them for another four years.

MUTUK expressed optimism in the ability of the governor to use his second term in office to strengthen the peace and ensure harmonious existence of all citizens.

"Your Excellency, the last four years were very challenging but we are very optimistic that your Second Term in office would usher in unprecedented peace and prosperity to our people as you work towards

"MUTUK appreciates your support and we look forward to partnering with you in critical areas that would benefit our people," the statement read.

The group also pledged its support to the Ortom administration, adding that the people looked forward to contributing their quota to the development of the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Ortom had said that he is not against local government autonomy as being reported in a section of the media.

The governor made the clarification on Sunday, June 2, via a statement sent to Legit.ng by his chief press secretary, Terver Akase.

The statement noted that Governor Ortom is one of the governors who supported constitutional amendment granting local governments autonomy.
