The governor of Bauchi, Alhaji Bala Mohammed, has ordered the immediate payment of salaries to workers, but said those employed between April and May, 2019, should be exclude.
The governor made the order in a statement on Friday, May 31, through his special assistant on media, Mukhtar Mohammed Gidado.
According to the statement, he ordered the payment of salaries to the workers in order to ameliorate their sufferings.
According to the statement, the governor directed that the payment must be effected from Friday, May 31 to Monday June 3, 2019.
“The state accountant general is to ensure that all persons engaged into the state service between April and May are not reflected in the payment,” the statement warned while reiterating his administration’s commitment to worker’s welfare.
The governor urged workers in the state to be committed to their work to ensure an effective and efficient workforce for service delivery.
Legit.ng earlier reported Bala Mohammed recently declared that all appointments, promotions and transfers made from the day he was made the winner of the gubernatorial election by INEC in the state, are null and void.
Bala's declaration came on Wednesday, May 29, in a speech after his official swearing in as the governor of Bauchi state.
The governor had earlier raised an alarm that his government will inherit 136 billion debt left behind by his predecessor.
It was also reported how Bala Mohammed, on Wednesday, May 29, took his oath of office and was sworn in on Wednesday at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The Independent National Election Commission on March 26 declared Mohammed, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the winner of the Bauchi state governorship election after a protracted contest.
