Money laundering: Justice Ajumogobia hospitalised

The embattled Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia facing money laundering charges is currently on admission in the Hospital.

The Federal High Court in Lagos was informed about the state of Ofili-Ajumogobia's health on Friday, May 31.

The court earlier fixed May 31, for hearing in a motion filed by embattled judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia, challenging her trial in the court.

Ofili-Ajumogobia and SAN Godwin Obla were charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on 18 counts bordering on conspiracy, unlawful enrichment, retention of crime proceeds and money laundering.

The defendants are standing trial before Justice Rilwan Aikawa. They were re-arraigned on May 15, and had both pleaded not guilty to all counts of the charge.

The court had granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each, with two sureties in like sum.

Recall that Legit.ng reported that the EFCC revealed why it re-arrested Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia after she was discharged by the court on Tuesday, April 16. The anti-graft agency said it acted in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by the judge's re-arrest.

Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia was re-arrested at the premises of an Ikeja high court after she was discharged of corruption charges by Justice Hakeem Oshodi. Oshodi, in his ruling, struck out the 31-count charge file.
