- Senator Hope Uzodinma said former governor of Imo state should be in jail for allegedly committing electoral offences
- Uzodinma who was the governorship candidate of the APC in Imo state in the last election said Okorocha will soon realise he is politically finished
- Uzodinma also accused the former Imo governor of deliberately setting out to destroy APC for his selfish reasons
Senator Hope Uzodinma, representing Imo West senatorial district, has reportedly described the former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, as a serial electoral fraudster who should be in jail for sundry offences.
According to The Sun, Uzodinma, said Okorocha will soon realise he is politically finished, adding that people like him (Okorocha) should not join issues with decent and popular politicians like him, who has been winning election through popular votes.
Legit.ng gathers Uzodinma, in a statement issued on Thursday, May 30, by the director of media and special duties for Senator Hope Uzodinma Campaign Organisation, Declan Emulumba, advised Okorocha to bury his head in shame and suffer the consequences of his ill-advised actions.
The statement reads in part: “If there is anybody that is actually shameless in Imo state, that person is Okorocha. For a man who was governor in Imo for eight years and had to rely on violence to be declared winner of a senatorial election, shows that he is finished politically.”
He said it was unfortunate that Okorocha was still referring to the electoral heist he committed on behalf of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, as a victory, whereas he ought to be in prison.
He also claimed that those who rigged election for Nwosu in Ohaji/Egbema local government were caught at the collation centre in Owerri and handed over to the police.
“In all these, was APC indicted of any electoral offence,” he asked.
“From available records, which are now before the tribunal, I defeated Okorocha and his son-in-law in all the local government areas. Nemesis has caught up with him, that is why he is now in a political pit,” the APC governorship candidate in the last election, said.
Uzondinma alleged that Okorocha had never won a free and fair election, but had always depended on rigging, violence and manipulation of results to be declared winner as was evident in the last election, where he was reportedly caught.
He said it was clear from comments by the former governor that he deliberately set out to destroy APC for his selfish reasons.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Okorocha strongly warned to the newly inaugurated state government not to “fight him politically”.
He said this before officially handing over to Emeka Ihedioha as new governor of Imo state.
His words: “As I walk out of this government house, let no one fight me and I will not fight anybody."
