The senator wailed that every part of Nigeria is bedeviled with the menace of insecurity. He said: “The federal government should leave every other thing for now and concentrate squarely on security.

“It is very important now for government to be determined to addressing the issue of security,” maintaining that without security, nothing development can be achieved.

“We are tired of hearing ‘Boko Haram attack has been repelled’ or ‘Boko Haram has been degraded’; we want to hear Boko Haram have been completely defeated and the war has ended.”

He stated that the federal government and security agencies in the country should set a deadline for insurgency and make efforts to meet the target.

He said: “The black spots of the war are known; Sambisa Forest; Gwoza and Mandata mountains; and the Lake Chad regions; these are where the insurgents are now concentrated; troops should be massively deployed there.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai had said that the Boko Haram insurgent group had been defeated by the nation’s military.

He added that ‘Boko Haram will never come again as Boko Haram’, saying that what is currently going on in the northeast is a part of the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP).
