Nigeria vs Ukraine is set to take centre stage on Thursday, May 30, and ahead of the game, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have suffered a massive injury blow in their final group of game of the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland.
According to Goal.com report, the Flying Eagles will be without defender Valentine Ozornwafor alongside midfielder Jamil Muhammad, who have both been ruled out for the game, the latter ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
Ozornwafor reportedly failed to recover from a groin injury he cropped against the United States on Monday night, May 27.
Meaning the defender will play no role during the group decider against Ukraine in Bielsko-Biala Stadium.
Ozornwafor is expected to undergo further medical examination with the team’s medics in the coming days.
And the result will help ascertain the expected day of his return from injury to action should Nigeria get past the group stage.
“Valentine Ozornwafor will miss Thursday’s game against Ukraine,” team’s media office disclosed in a text message.
“He got a knock in our game with the United States along with Rabiu Muhammad but while Rabiu has overcome his injury worries and even took part in the sessions we had on Tuesday and Wednesday.
"Ozornwafor also tried his best but he was unable to complete the entire sessions. It was suggested that he is excused out of the game to keep him fit for the next game if we progress.
