Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos on Tuesday, May 28, handed over to the incoming governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in Alausa Lagos. Sanwo-Olu made this known via his Twitter account.
Several governors across the country would also be sworn-in on Wednesday, May 29.
Sanwo-Olu thanked the outgoing governor for his kind words as he officially handed over Lagos to him.
"Life is a succession of moments and today we are at the right place and moment to build #ForAGreaterLagos. #SanwoOluInauguration," he tweeted.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the outgoing governor of Lagos state, Ambode, said he served humanity to his best, and posterity will judge him.
Ambode spoke to newsmen shortly after inaugurating the 400-seater Lagos theatre on Friday, May 24, in Epe area of the state.
The governor, while reviewing his tenure which ends on Tuesday, May 28, expressed gratitude to God for giving him the grace to serve humanity and govern Lagos.
Meanwhile, Sanwo-Olu has assured that only those who will share his vision and that of his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, will be appointed into his cabinet when his government is inaugurated on Wednesday, May 29.
According to the incoming governor, he and his deputy will hit the ground running and also run an inclusive government.
Sanwo-Olu also promised to make all the major appointments of his government within three months.
He said: “In the first 90 days or so, we are hoping that we would have a working government in all the cabinets, all of the major appointments that we need to have, we would have them running very quickly."
