The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s governor-elect in Zamfara, Mohammed Mattawale, was on Monday, May 27, presented with a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Amina Zakari, INEC's national commissioner, gave Mattawale, alongside all candidates of successful political parties their certificates in Abuja, Sahara Reporters reports.
In his congratulatory speech to the candidates, the commission's national chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, advised them to uphold internal democracy and the rule of law.
On his part, Mattawale commended INEC for adhering to the verdict of the Supreme Court, urging residents and indigenes of the state to see the ruling as God's will.
The governor-elect urged the people of Zamfara for their support as he promised to run an all-inclusive government.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state had reportedly summoned leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to an emergency meeting.
A source at the government house, Gusau, the state capital, disclosed this on Saturday, May 25. The source reportedly said the meeting is about the Supreme Court verdict on the 2019 elections in the state.
