Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers, during a thanksgiving service for his re-election on Saturday, May 25, made eye-opening remarks about some of the ordeals he has been through in his political career.
The event, which took place in Port Harcourt, the state capital, was attended by a lot of dignitaries and his supporters.
In his speech, Governor Wike said that he was once wrongly arrested and detained by some security agents over false accusation of stealing a rickety and worn out 504 car.
He added that some years ago, when he was running for chairmanship in the state, he was framed up by one of his political opponents for being guilty of committing murder.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that Wike had said that he was tired of being a governor after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented him his certificate of return as the re-elected governor of the state.
The Rivers state governor who disclosed this on Tuesday, April 16, reportedly said that he would not contest for a third term even if the constitution permitted him.
He also dedicated his victory to the people of Rivers state who he said overwhelmingly voted for him. However, Wike rebuked the Nigerian Army for the role they allegedly played during the 2019 general elections in the state.
