Man allegedly kills wife, son, then hangs self over infidelity

A commercial motorcyclist identified as Charles Enifa allegedly stabbed his wife and son to death an then proceeded to hang himself over allegation of infidelity.

According to Sahara Reporters, the incident happened on Thursday, May 23, at 12, Obafemi Eruja Street, off Agbola Awojobi street, in Aga Ikorodu, Lagos state.

Their bodies were reportedly discovered around 5am, after their older children, Success, 12, and Favour, 10, opened the door and alerted neighbours.

Legit.ng gathers that other tenants at the residence fled their apartments following the incidents.

Sources familiar with the family reportedly said the man has always disputed the paternity of the killed son.

Jamiu Odukoya, son to the deceased’s landlord, disclosed, that, the couple had been enmeshed in fights and disagreement in the past two years, adding that the man always claimed he was not the young boy’s father.

“I do not live here. I was called this morning (Friday, May 24) that something has happened and I rushed down to the house…I came here around 10am. Before I got here, I went to the police station but I was told that the police were already at the scene. When I came here, I met a lot of security people and emergency workers.

“What I heard was that one of the tenants killed his wife and son over infidelity. They had been having issues. I know that when my father was alive, he tried talking to them and even advised the man to let the woman go if he thinks the boy was not his son,” he said.

In a related development, the Lagos state police command said a gardener in a secondary school has been arrested over an alleged murder of a Senior Secondary school student.

The command’s spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday, May 19.

According to Elkana, on May 16, at about 2.40pm, Iponri Police Station received a complaint from Jubril Martins Memorial Grammar School Iponri.

The complaint said that on May 15, at about 4.40 pm, a gardener with the said School engaged a 16-year-old SSS 3 student in a fight along Oke-Olu Road Iponri.
