Governors have described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo as a man with great leadership skill as the chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC).
Osinbajo, who presided over the NEC on Thursday, May 24, appreciated members of the council, which included the whole governors of the federation and governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for their cooperation,
The vice president said that they were committed to socio-economic development irrespective of their political party affiliations.
The Council, which comprises of Governors of all the 36 States of the Federation, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and others, is chaired by Osinbajo noted that the Vice President had a listening ear to all views without disregarding them, while stating that the present NEC was different and improved compared to that in the previous administration.
Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, noted that, Chairman (VP) led a strong team through various areas requiring attention in the economy. He made robust efforts in security giving direction, confidence and comfort.
In the same vein, the Borno State Governor said Osinbajo "provided leadership and in the past 4 years, he exhibited humility, giving everyone a sense of belonging.
Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, said the VP has proved himself to be a patriotic Nigerian. "The humility he displays is very rare. There's great difference between NEC of the past and NEC under VP's leadership. The speed with which issues regarding the country were handled were second to none. NEC became a family under the leadership of the VP:"
The VP also thanked for their solid support and cooperation over the past four years; and their commitment to the socio-economic development of the country.
Kashim Shettima, the governor of Borno state, said the second citizen of the country gave everyone a good sense of belonging, while Akinwunmi Ambode, Lagos state governor, said he gave council a sense of purpose. Kaduna state governor El-Rufai was also full of praises for the vice president.
Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom state governor, said the ease of doing business in Nigeria was improved with the leadership quality of the council.
“Governors never had cause to be known by party lines, because VP provided quality leadership and encouraged freedom of expression. He accommodated every comment made, contributions in the past four years.
“The Unity in the council is unprecedented. He showed concern during the pipeline vandalism, brought peace and happiness in the region and his visit back then is still fresh in their memories.
“Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria is also a success recorded by the Council,” he said.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Osinbajo cautioned governors of the 36 states of the federation and other people in leadership positions to watch their public utterances in order not to heat up the polity and cause unnecessary crisis.
It reported that Osinbajo made this known on Thursday, May 23, at the valedictory session of NEC held at the presidential villa, Abuja.
