A man who was making a phone call while driving has reportedly rammed into a group of school children in Oba in Idemili South local government area of Anambra state, killing four of them.
According to The Nation, the driver, Chibuzor Elebo, has been arrested by the Anambra state police.
Ifeanyi Abanaofor who is the divisional police officer for Oba said those who were injured were taken to the hospital. Among the deceased were two siblings.
The police attributed the accident to the recklessness of the driver who was on a phone conversation while driving.
He said: “The driver lost control and veered off his lane into the other lane before ramming into the kids, killing three instantly, while the fourth one died at the hospital.”
According to him, the children had just closed from school for the day when the incident happened and that they were on their way home when the tragic incident happened.
Meanwhile, in what could be described as an unfortunate incident, two undergraduates of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), have been confirmed dead after their involvement in a car accident along Aroje road, Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
The two students identified as Dr Sleem and Young Prof, who were both 400 level students of the institution, were reportedly driving to school for their farm work when they were involved in the car crash.
