Lorius Karius' UCL howler: Dutch League goalkeeper re-enacts scenario in Netherlands

Lorius Karius became one of Liverpool's most hated player following his mistakes that led to their Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in last season's Champions League final in Kiev.

The German goalkeeper wanted to serve his players the ball when the round leather slipped off his hands and gifted Karim Benzema the opener on the night.

He went ahead to allow the Spanish League giants score two more goals which led them to their 13th UCL title in history.

However, barely one year after such disappointing display by the Reds keeper, Heracles Almelo shot-stopper Janis Blaswich repeated same scenario in one of the Dutch League encounters this season.

Blaswich was rushing to serve his attackers the ball in a counter attacking move against Excelsior but his move was hindered by his own players.

The match ended 5-4 in favour of Excelsior but were unable to avoid the drop at the end of the season.

And an opposing star benefited from the mistake to put the ball in the back of the net, while his effort to save the situation was late.

Legit.ng earlier reported that German goalkeeper Loris Karius has completed a two-year loan move to Turkish side Besiktas from Premier League giants Liverpool.

Since the defeat Liverpool suffered against Real Madrid in the 2018/19 Champions League final, the 25-year-old has not played another competitive game for the Anfield landlords.

Karius has been facing serious criticism from Liverpool fans because of the two mistakes he made against Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev.
