Fans troll Manchester United after winning EPL grounds team of the season award

Manchester United finished the 2018-19 campaign outside the top four in the Premier League log to miss out of Champions League football next season.

According to the club’s official website, despite missing out on UCL silverware crown alongside the FA Cup, the EFL Cup and the Premier League, United have now been declared winners of the Premier League grounds team of the season award for 2018-19 campaign.

The decision was arrived after match delegates and referees awarded marks 'based on a number of factors’, which includes pitch usage and environmental factors.

Grounds manager Tony Sinclair informed the club's official website that award was a big surprise to his team.

"It's unbelievable. It's something we are immensely proud of as a team.

"The condition of the pitch in the last four, five, six years, has come on tremendously.

"It's a great achievement for the team of staff. That's first and foremost.

"I always make sure I acknowledge the staff we have because you need a good team behind you. I have definitely got that,” he summed up.

Interestingly, moments after the news broke out social media went into meltdown as football fans mocked for walking away with at least one trophy. Here are some of the fans reaction on Twitter.

Man United will be looking forward to a better 2019-20 season after a disappointing campaign after suffering defeats to relegated clubs Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City.
