Manchester City have tabled a 'formal offer' to land Rodri from Spanish side Atletico Madrid during this summer transfer window.
According to Daily Mail citing AS, Pep Guardiola's tutored-side are keen on beefing up their squad this window and are ready to meet the £61m release clause for the 22-year-old central midfielder.
The report further revealed that City’s bid have now shown they are set for Rodri’s signature, with the Spanish star ready to make the move to the Premier League champions.

Atletico Madrid Diego boss Diego Simeone would love to see Rodri remain in Madrid capital, but the players’ release clause could be activated by City, meaning his future in no longer in the Atleti’s hands.
Spanish champions Barcelona were reportedly interested in signing Rodri but it seems the former Villarreal man has opted to move to the Etihad Stadium.
Interestingly, Guardiola wants Rodri to battle 34-year-old Fernandinho, who is now at the peak of his career for a starter’s spot.
Already, City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain has made the necessary checks on the midfielder, with the club ready to complete the signing as soon as possible.
Fernandinho has been an important squad member for City this campaign and have struggled anytime the Brazilian in unavailable.
Rodri, who joined Atletico last year for £17m, has already been listed in Spain squad for their forthcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
