Kidnappings, banditry: Northern states governors meet in Kaduna

- Seventeen northern governors are expected to meet in Kaduna state on Friday, May 17

- The meeting is holding to discuss the rising spate of insecurity in the region

- Some of the governors have reportedly arrived for the meeting

Northern Governors Forum has arrived Kaduna state for their meeting which will hold at the Kashim Ibrahim Government House to discuss the security challenges affecting the region.

Leadership reports that governors of Kano, Katsina, Borno, Plateau and deputies of Bauchi, Sokoto and Benue and the host governor of Kaduna had arrived Government House, venue of the meeting.

In the main time, the governors have all converged at the host governor’s office behind closed doors and are expecting others for the meeting.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the Northern Governors Forum would hold a meeting in Kaduna state to discuss the security challenges affecting the region.

The development was made public in a statement released by the forum’s chairman and governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima. The statement disclosed that the meeting will take place at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.

During the meeting, the governors will deliberate on the spate of armed banditry, kidnappings and other security challenges in the region.
