Consider southeast in 9th NASS leadership - Group urges Buhari, Oshiomhole

- President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged by the National Youth Council of Nigeria to consider southeast for 9th NASS leadership

- According to the group, this is to promote internal cohesion and create a sense of belonging in all Nigerians

- The group lamented that the southeast had been abandoned by the APC-led federal government in the distribution of political offices

Nigerian youths operating under the aegis of the National Youth Council of Nigeria urged President Buhari and chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole, to consider the southeast geopolitical zone in the election/selection of leaders for the 9th National Assembly.

According to the group, this is to promote internal cohesion and create a sense of belonging in all Nigerians in the interest of the general development of the country, PR Nigeria reports

Going further, the group lamented that the southeast had been abandoned by the APC-led federal government in the distribution of political offices.

Comrade Innocent Nduanya, deputy national president of the NYCN pleaded with Buhari and Oshiomole to consider the southeast to produce the speaker of the House of Representatives.

He added that Buhari’s second term should be used to heal the wounds inflicted on the southeast during the first term in the non inclusion of the zone in the national appointment.

Recall that Legit.ng had reported that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex pan Igbo socio-cultural organisation, alleged that the APC was making moves to exclude the southeast zone in the leadership of the 9th National Assembly.

Ndigbo claimed that the party is conniving with INEC to ensure that nobody from the region emerges as presiding officers of the Assembly.
