Super Eagles and Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has revealed he will decide his next Premier League club before Africa Cup of Nations with the pair of Sheffield United and Norwich keeping tabs on the star.

According to UK Sun report, the 32-year-old Mikel is keen on sealing a return to the English topflight before jetting off to Super Eagles camp for AFCON 2019, with the two clubs reportedly set to sign him.

In January, Mikel joined Championship side Middlesbrough from Chinese Super League Tianjin TEDA on a free transfer.

However, with Boro failing to seal promotion to the Premier League, Mikel is unlikely to extend his stay at the Championship outfit after getting new offers from other top clubs.

At the last count, newly-promoted duo Norwich City and Sheffield United are leading the chase for Mikel’s signature.

And Mikel will now decide his next club before AFCON hostilities commence next month.

“There are some options right now, and a few more we expect to see over the coming days.

“Once all the options are on the table, he will make a decision,” an ESPN source was quoted as saying

“He will most likely make the decision before the finals, although that will depend on what is on the table,” the source added.

Mikel will be representing Nigeria at the biennial tournament for the first time since last year's summer's World Cup in Russia.

During his ten years at Chelsea, Mikel claimed two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, a League Cup and the Europa League, but his glorious moment was in 2012 when he helped Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to claim the Champion League silverware for the first time in the Blues history.

Earlier, reported that newly promoted Premier League side Norwich City are planning to sign John Obi Mikel this summer.

The Canaries have been heavily linked with the 32-year-old, who will become a free agent this summer, after his short spell with Middlesbrough expires in June.
