Samuel Umtiti: Barcelona considering to sell World Cup winning star

- Samuel Umtiti might be offloaded by Barcelona at the end of this season

- The Frenchman wants an upgrade in his wages at the club but the club are not happy with the way he is going about it

- Umtiti's current contract with the Catalan club expires in the summer of 2023

Spanish League champions Barcelona are reportedly unhappy with Samuel Umtiti and are willing to listen to offers for the defender.

The Frenchman hasn't been at his best for the club since his return from last summer's FIFA World Cup triumph in Russia.

He has only made 15 appearances for the Catalans all season long with just one assist credited to his name.

According to Sport Witness, the defender is one of the players who might be released by the club at the end of this season.

The club's media department register their displeasure towards the manner at which Umtiti was going about getting a new contract. They believe he is asking for too much.

Having joined Barca from Olympique Lyon in deal valued around £22.50 million in 2016, his current contract expires in the summer of 2023.

According to the publication, the center-back didn't get his improved salary sanctioned by the club - leaving bad feeling in the Camp Nou corridors of power… and with some fans.

He has also spent most part of this season struggling with injury, which eventually led to drop of form in the process.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt could see Umtiti leave the club before the start of next campaign, with the club willing to sell for an offer around €40m.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Samuel Umtiti has insisted he wants to stay at Barcelona despite being linked with Premier League side Arsenal.

The France international has been plagued with series of knee problems in recent months and has lost his place to fellow countryman Clement Lenglet.

Lenglet has stepped up his game while Umtiti was recovering on the sidelines, casting doubts over Umtiti's long term future at the Camp Nou.
