The heroic Jigawa gateman, Malam Musa Usman, has been given the sum of N500,000 by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Boss Mustapha after he asked for a borehole to benefit his community instead of a house for himself.
Usman an employee to an Indian managing director of a drug firm in Lagos, Varkey Verghese, had rejected an offer of a house, his reason being that a borehole would benefit his entire community instead, Daily Trust reports.
During a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, May 15, Verghese disclosed that the fund was meant to kick off a house project for Usman.
The conference came alongside the launching of a housing project for Usman tagged #Shellter4MusaUsmanCampaign organized by Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Media Network (WASH Media Network).
The event was attended by Tejeswar Garika, a representative of the Indian high commissioner to Nigeria, Abhay Thakur, among many others.

To appreciate Usman’s services, Verghese decided to build a house for him. However, the offer was turned down. Instead, the kind gateman asked his boss to build a borehole for his community because there was shortage of water in his village and people had to go a long distance in search of clean water.
