Premier League: City players filmed chanting 'battered' version of Liverpool's theme song

- Premier League champions Manchester City were caught on video mocking title contenders Liverpool

- The Citizens conquered England for the second straight season following their 4-1 victory over Brighton on last match day

- They however mocked the Reds over their defeat to Real Madrid in Kiev last season

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions for the second time in a row after beating Liverpool to the title on the last match day.

The Citizens hammered Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium 4-1 over the weekend to retain the title they won last season with 98 points.

While returning to base after their victory on Sunday, May 12, the players were filmed chanting a distasteful version of "Allez Allez Allez" aimed at Liverpool.

It will be recalled that Man City clinched their second straight title in three years with just one point better than the Reds who took the battle to the last day of the season.

According to SunSport, the song includes lines about the Merseyside fans were "battered in the streets" and "victims of it all", whilst those in the clip clearly sing a line referring to Vincent Kompany injuring Mohamed Salah earlier in the season.

The action has now generated reactions from fans - criticising City players for celebrating their triumph with the vile song.

Meanwhile, a statement from the Premier League champions insisted the song has been a regular chant during the season and refers to Liverpool losing the Champions League final in Kiev.

"Any suggestion that the lyrics relate to Sean Cox or the Hillsborough tragedy is entirely without foundation," the statement added.

Rivalry between the two clubs has grown owing to their recent successes and escalated when Liverpool fans attacked the City team bus ahead of their Champions League quarter-final clash at Anfield last season.

City fans came up with the song to mock Liverpool's Champions League final heartache in Kiev against Real Madrid and the fact they ended the season without any silverware.

Jurgen Klopp's men will hope they can avoid the repeat of last season after losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid in Kiev.

They head to Madrid for the Champions League final against Tottenham on June 1 desperate to go one better than last year.

Full City chant

All the way to Kiev,

To end up in defeat,

Crying in the stands,

And battered on the streets.

Kompany injured Salah,

Victims of it all.
