- Patrice Evra has slammed Alexis Sanchez for bringing down United
- The Frenchman revealed that signing Sanchez remans United's biggest mistake
- Evra also found time to defend compatriot Paul Pogba after he was criticised since his comment about Zinedine' Zidane's Real Madrid
Following a tumultuous season that went down in history as one of Manchester United's worst English Premier League campaigns, ex-defender Patrice Evra gave insight on the current crisis.
After witnessing his ex-club's worst performing season, Evra revealed that signing Alexis Sanchez was a big mistake that signalled the club's ruin.
"Some people only come for the money and I am not afraid to say that," Evra said.
"I have nothing against Alexis Sanchez but when I saw the deal that's when I thought the Manchester United history just went down," the former United star opined.
He questioned why Sanchez joined United instead of reuniting with his former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, who Evra said were playing better football but offering less money.
"City were offering less money but he was going to play better football than at United I'm sorry about that, but City play better football and Guardiola will improve him and I want to know the reason why United signed him," he said.
Evra, who won several accolades during his heydays at Old Trafford, said that bringing in players who were playing for money and not the badge changed everything.
"We need to move forward and we need to do so in the right direction. We need to buy players who want to play for the badge and not the money," Evra said.
The former France international defended under fire midfielder Paul Pogba, and felt the recent abuse the 2018 World Cup winner had received from fans was likely to force him out of United.
"I think Pogba will leave, because you need to feel the love when you play somewhere, you need to be committed.
"It's not like I am protecting Paul but when there are incidents like yesterday with the fan. they are killing Paul. If Paul decides to stay another few years, maybe the fans will love him because he is committed," he said.
Earlier, Legit.ng previously reported that tension has reportedly rocked Old Trafford after Manchester United players clashing over the club's bonus scheme that favours Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.
Both Pogba and Sanchez rank as United's top earners in wages, and receive staggering amounts of bonuses for goals and assists in every match.
Despite his dipping form, Sanchez is said to be pocketing up to £75,000 for every appearance he makes for the Red Devils.
