Damir Skomina has been named centre referee for next month’s Champions League final which might not augur well for Liverpool.

According to UK Sun report, the Slovenian match arbiter has handled five fixtures involving the Reds previously, as they lost four and won one.

The Jurgen Klopp tutored-side ended their jinx under Skomina when they defeated Napoli 1-0 in the early stages of the campaign.

At the last count, the 42-year-old Slovenian had the first opportunity to officiate Liverpool’s game in 2009 as the Kop side suffered defeat at Anfield against Fiorentina.

Six years down the road, the Reds would lose against Besiktas before Skomina handled another defeat against Villarreal.

And the Slovenian was also in the middle as Liverpool were smashed 4-2 by Roma last season, but the Premier League campaigners still progressed on aggregate.

Skomina equally officiated Manchester United's comeback win against Paris Saint-Germain in Paris.

The highly-experienced referee showed stern in awarding a late controversial penalty that Marcus Rashford netted to see Man United progress to the next round.

Interestingly, the June 1 final will be Skomina's first Champions League final, but he was in charge of the 2017 Europa League final contest between Ajax and Man United.

Skomina also officiated Atletico Madrid's 3-0 win over Chelsea during the UEFA Super Cup in 2012.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum netted a brace each as Liverpool thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in the reverse tie of their UCL semi-final clash on Tuesday night, May 7, at Anfield to book a place in the final on 4-3 aggregate.

The encounter saw Liverpool without the duo of Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, as Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri made the starting XI.
