I have no fake certificates - Kwara governor-elect insists after election victory

- The governor-elect of Kwara state, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, denies presenting fake certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission

- Abdulrazaq says he is prepared to present evidence that he graduated and has the right certificate in court

- The claimant, Adekunle Abraham, wants the governor-elect disqualified for allegedly presenting fake certificate

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, governor-elect of Kwara state, on Tuesday, May 14, said he never falsified his West African Examination Council (WAEC) certification which he presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The certificate was part of the requirements for him to contest the 2019 governorship election in the state.

The governor-elect insisted that he attended the Government College, Kaduna, Kaduna state and graduated in June 1976.

The Nation reports that while speaking on the allegations leveled against him by one Abraham Adekunle in court, the governor-elect’s counsel said: “We were served on May 3rd this year and we have one month to file our defence.”

Stressing that the governor-elect and his team were fully ready for the case, he added: “The governor-elect did not present fake WAEC result to INEC to contest the 2019 governorship election. He attended Government College, Kaduna and of course, he wrote his WAEC 1976. The records are there. They are clear. I am very sure.”

The case has been adjourned till June 10, 2019 for mention.

The claimant, Adekunle Abraham, had instituted the case against the governor-elect at the Kwara state high court claiming that the politician presented a fake WAEC result to INEC.

Abraham averred that said that governor-elect gave false information about his result and that is what he deposed to in an affidavit.
