Spanish League champions Barcelona are reportedly close to landing Ajax inspirational captain Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
The 19-year-old youngster has been rock solid for the Dutch side - playing a crucial role in their triumphs over Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League this season.
Although, their aim of reaching the final of the tournament crashed after losing on away goals rule to Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur at the semifinal stage.
Reports in Spain suggest that the defender could follow his teammate Frenkie de Jong to Camp Nou this summer.
De Jong will be joining Barca next month having already signed for the La Liga side in a deal valued around £65 million earlier this year.
According to Goal.com, the Netherlands international is close to sealing a deal with with Spanish League outfit, although nothing is concrete as yet.
Meanwhile, Catalunya Radio claims Barca are hoping to announce his deal after Ajax have been confirmed as champions of the Eredivisie.
The players representative Mino Raiola, was said to have met with Barca's delegation consisting of Pep Segura, Eric Abidal, Oriol Grau and Ramon Planas on April 12 in Monte Carlo.
Earlier in the season, Ajax CEO Edwin van der Sar was quoted saying that De Ligt was playing in his final games for the club and that he hoped the defender would go out on a high.
The former Manchester United goalkeeper went as far as saying that De Ligt would be heading for to either England or Spain.
But Barca seem to be leading the chase for the defender, seeing off interest from the likes of Juventus and Manchester City.
Despite their Champions League semi-final agony, both De Jong and De Ligt are close to winning their second title of the season with the Dutch league wrapping up on Wednesday.
Ajax won the KNVB Beker on May 5 with a 4-0 victory over Willem II and are set to complete a domestic double when the Eredivisie season comes to a close on Wednesday.
Despite not having mathematically secured the title, Ajax hold a three-point advantage over PSV heading into their final game against De Graafschap, while their goal difference is 14 better off than their nearest challengers for the league.
