Troops rescue 54 abducted victims, nab 1 mopol, 2 soldiers with ammunitions

- The Nigerian Army's operation Lafiya Dole is meeting with resounding success in the fight against terrorism, especially in Borno

- The military said that not less than 54 persons kidnapped by the terrorists were rescued by troops in the state

- It also revealed that one Mobile police officer, Sergeant Markus John, who was in illegal possession of sophisticated ammunitions was arrested

The Nigerian Army in its operation Lafiya Dole throughout Borno state have rescued 29 women and 25 children kidnapped in Borno.

Speaking on the troops' victory, the acting director Army public relations Colonel Sagir Musa, said that the Ma’allasuwa and Yaga – Munye villages were thoroughly cleared, Leadership reports.

He revealed that upon siting the troops, Boko Haram terrorists fled the villages leaving behind their victims of which are 29 women and 25 children.

Moreover, troops of 145 Battalion also destroyed two Boko Haram terrorists’ vehicles at Zari – Kasake and Jumachere villages in Damasak general area of Mobbar local government area of the state.

The troops also arrested Mopol Sergeant Markus John with Personal Number PNo 383106 at Njimtilo checkpoint along Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

Musa further said that John was in illegal possession of two magazines, 146 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and one round of anti-aircraft gun on his way to Lagos.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that troops and some members of civilian JTF on clearance operation on Friday, May 10, along the deserted Fuye and Melere villages in Borno, killed seven terrorists after a serious battle with them at Gulwa.

The acting director army public relations, Col. Sagir Musa, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said seven rifles, including six AK 47 and one FN were recovered from the terrorists.
