Recall that Legit.ng reported that President Buhari’s re-nomination of Godwin Emefiele for a second term as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria generated reactions amongst Nigerians.
Emefiele was first appointed by former president Goodluck Jonathan and while many had thought he would be removed by the new administration of Buhari, he was retained. His tenure as chairman of the apex bank was however expected to end in 2019 and there had been rumours that he would leave for a northerner.
President Buhari, however, in a letter to the National Assembly on Thursday, May 9, reappointed Emefiele for a second term in office which will be expected to end in another five years.
