- Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo reunion may not see the light of day
- This follows report that Juventus have rejected the chance to appoint Mourinho as a preferred option to replace Massimiliano Allegri
- The Serie A giants prefer Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino instead of Mourinho
Juventus have reportedly rejected the chance to appoint former Man United manager Jose Mourinho as a preferred option to replace Massimiliano Allegri.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian giants will prefer to move for Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino instead of out-of-job Mourinho.
It is believed that Allegri could leave Juventus at the end of this season after failing to win Champions League again this season – the club’s major priority.
Despite Juventus spending £100million on Cristiano Ronaldo, they again fell short of European glory, as they crashed out following a defeat to Ajax in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.
This is one concern Juventus chiefs have and they believe bringing in Pochettino instead of Mourinho could help the club lift their first UCL title since 1996.
Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes offered his client to the club as a potential candidate to replace Allegri, but Juventus declined the chance to appoint him.
The report claimed that Mourinho’s managerial style is considered 'too far' by the club's hierarchy.
Instead, the Turin club are eyeing up the possibility of luring Pochettino to the Allianz Stadium, who recently admitted that he could walk away from Tottenham after their Champions League final clash with Liverpool if they win the trophy.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, aimed a subtle attack on Tottenaham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Portuguese tactician believes Pochettino must change his stance on what represents success in football ‘the day he starts winning trophies’.
