- Super Eagles will not be playing Morocco as part of preparations for AFCON 2019 this summer
- The three time African champions will battle Senegal and Zimbabwe in friendly games before the tourney
- Gernot Rohr's men are making their return to the continental championship for the first time since 2013
The Nigeria Football Federation has insisted that there is no plan for the Super Eagles to play a friendly match with north African giants Morocco in France this summer.
Coach Gernot Rohr's men are one of the teams to look out for at the 2019 edition of the African Cup of Nations staging in Egypt this summer.
And as part of their preparations for the tournament, they have lined up two friendly matches for the three time AFCON kings before the tourney kicks off in June.
They will battle Zimbabwe in Delta on June 8, and eight days later (June 16) face off with Senegal in Ismailia.
"We finalized our program leading up to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations long before now and have publicized same, and a match with the Atlas Lions of Morocco is not on the cards,” NFF’s Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, said on Friday.
"For avoidance of doubt, the Super Eagles will set up a camp in Asaba, Delta State as from Saturday, 2nd June, play a friendly with the Warriors of Zimbabwe on 8th June and fly to Egypt the following day.
"They will set up a final training camp in Ismailia and then play a friendly against Africa’s number one –ranked team, Senegal in Ismailia on 16th June. On 17th June, they will depart Ismailia for Alexandria – venue of their AFCON Group B matches.”
Nigeria will trade tackles with Burundi on June 22, confront Guinea on June 26 and tackle Madagascar on June 30, all in Alexandria.
The 32nd Africa Cup of Nations will hold in four Egyptian cities (Cairo, Alexandria, Suez, Ismailia) 21st June – 19th July.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has confirmed that Nigeria will face Ghana and Senegal in friendly matches as part of their preparations for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The three time African champions have been drawn in Group B alongside Guinea, Madagascar and Burundi for this summer's 24-team AFCON tournament.
Rohr told Super Sport during an interview in Cairo on Friday night after the draws were concluded in Cairo.
