Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has accused Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of witch-hunting him after he ensured his emergence as national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okorocha who is at logger heads with the national leadership of the APC, accused Oshiomhole of plotting to bring him down.

Okorocha’s grievance with the leadership of the APC started in the build-up to the last general election when his anointed candidate Uche Nwosu lost the Imo state governorship candidate ticket to Senator Hope Uzodinma.

The party, thereafter, suspended Okorocha from its fold, accusing the Imo state governor of anti-party activities.

“There is nothing personal between me and Adams Oshiomhole other than the fact that he is part and parcel of this high level of conspiracy to bring down Rochas politically.

“What is painful is that Adam Oshiomhole that I literally put into this position,” Okorocha said at a news conference in Abuja.

Okorocha contested the Imo west senatorial district election on February 23 and was declared the winner of the election.

But the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) refused to acknowledge his victory because the returning officer said he announced the result of the election under duress.

However, Okorocha believes that INEC’s denial to issue him a certificate of return as an elected senator is being orchestrated by some APC chieftains who he said wants to reduce his political influence.

“I never asked him (Oshiomhole) to do me any favour, all I requested was for him to do what is right. The fact that he would turn around to do this evil is totally unacceptable.

“I believe the INEC chairman is up to a game with the chairman of the APC, who is being used to frustrate my coming to the Senate, and this is politically motivated,” he added.

Meanwhile, Okorocha has petitioned INEC over the delay in issuing him his certificate of return.

In a petition addressed to INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Imo governor said the electoral body lacks the power to either withhold his certificate of return or reverse his election after being declared winner.
