- Man United close to landing first summer signing in £15m deal for Swansea star Daniel James
- The winger is likely recommended to Man United by Joel Matip
- James was close to leaving Swansea for Leeds during January transfer window
Premier League giants Man United are set to seal a £15m deal for Swansea City winger Daniel James in the coming days.
According to Daily Express report citing Sky Sports News sources, James has enjoyed a decent season under Graham Potter, attracting a number of top Premier League clubs.
However, it seems United have won the race for his signature, with the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tutored-side closing in on a deal valued at £15m to make the Welshman his first summer signing.
The winger is expected to play a huge role for Wales in their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary next month.
But failed to make an appearance in Swansea’s final fixture of the Championship campaign at Blackburn courtesy of a toe injury.
Reacting after the match, Potter wound not agree James will not wear Swansea’s colours again.
"No-one can see into the future, as with all of the players. It's football, it's part of the industry,” he stressed.
Interestingly, Leeds were keen on signing James on the winter transfer window deadline day.
However, it did not see the light of the day at the last minute, with Marcelo Bielsa suggesting he will return for the winger this summer, but it now seems all is over.
Ryan Giggs was excited with James performance after netting the winner against Slovakia at the Cardiff City stadium back in March.
“He's a talent. When you've got that raw pace, you're a threat at any level so as a winger, obviously for me playing as a winger, when I was younger, you then have to develop the other parts of your game which I feel he is doing,” he said.
“He's played up front as well which will help him because that gives you an appreciation of what you need to do,” he submitted.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Man United and Arsenal have reportedly held talks over Marcos Llorente signing from Real Madrid this summer.
The two Premier League clubs are looking to strengthen their squads ahead of next season after failing to make the top four this term in the Premier League with one game to go.
But Arsenal have the chance to play in the Champions League next season only if they beat rivals Chelsea in the Europa League final.
And 24-year-old Spain professional footballer Marcos Llorente is now their target even though he is currently struggling at Real Madrid.
