Breaking: Kano anti-graft agency grills Emir Sanusi’s aide over alleged financial misappropriation

- An aide to Emir Sanusi’s aide, Isa Bayero, has been grilled over alleged misappropriation of fund by Kano anti-graft agency

Barely 24 hours after the breaking of Kano emirate into five, the state’s anti-graft agency has grilled Isa Bayero, an aide to the emir, Muhammad Sanusi II, over allegations of financial misappropriation.

TheCable reports that Bayero, who also served as chief aide to Ado Bayero, Sanusi’s predecessor, told reporters on Thursday, May 9, about his appearance before the Kano public complaints and anti-corruption commission.

Legit.ng gathered that he said when he appeared before the investigating panel, he was presented with some documents which he went through, adding that he requested for more time to study and return them.

He said: “When I appeared before the investigating panel, I was presented with some documents which I went through and I requested for more time to study and return them.

”I was not given any specific time to report but if I am able to go through the documents today, I will call back the following day to face the panel for further interrogation."

Isa said he was quizzed and asked to report back on Friday, May 10, with some documents. He said he was confident that “truth will prevail” at the end of the day.

It was learnt that only Bayero appeared before the panel on Thursday, May 9.

The three invitees include - Mohammad Sani Kwaru, the accountant, Mannir Sanusi, the chief of staff, Danburan Mujittafa and Falakin Kano did not honour the invitation.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the creation of four emirates councils of Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi was approved by Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

According to report, there are also plans to depose Sanusi as the emir of Kano.
