The creation of four emirates councils of Gaya, Rano, Karaye and Bichi has been approved by Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Reports by Daily Trust claimed that Ganduje declared that the law would come into effect immediately.
The governor also stated that all necessary processes for the appointment of emirs and kingmakers would immediately commence.
Ganduje assured that the government would provide everything needed to ensure smooth appointment and turbaning of the new emirs.
Earlier, Legit.ng learnt that there were reports that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje relaunched plans to remove Muhammad Sanusi II as the emir of Kano.
It was gathered that the Kano state public complaints and anti-corruption commission on Monday, May 6, reopened investigation into the expenditure of the state emirate council under Sanusi II.
It was also learnt that at Monday’s plenary of the state House of Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, the speaker, read a letter from one Ibrahim Salisu and others, seeking the creation of new Kano emirates in Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya.
In a related development, Legit.ng reported that the Kano state House of Assembly on Monday, May 6, started making moves to create four additional emirates in the state.
