- Mauricio Pochettino says he could retire from football coaching if Spurs should win UCL title
- Tottenham will face Ajax in the semifinal second leg encounter on Wednesday night, May 7
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that he could leave the Premier League club if they miraculously win the Champions League title this season.
The 47-year-old Argentine football boss made this stunning statement ahead of his side's Champions League semifinal return leg against Dutch side Ajax.
Spurs were beaten 1-0 in the first leg at the Totteham stadium last week, and the Premier League side will have to up their game for them to overturn the result.
“Winning the Champions League? It should be fantastic, no? It would close the five-year chapter and I could go home,''
Asked if he was joking, Pochettino replied: “It’s not a joke, why?
“Maybe I work with Daniel, sitting, working somewhere different for sure.
“To win the Champions League with Tottenham, in this circumstance, in this season, maybe I need to think a little bit to do something different in the future, for sure,'' he said according to UK Sun.
Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 0-1 defeat against Ajax in a tough Champions League semi-final first leg clash on Tuesday, April 30, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The encounter saw Tottenham Hotspur without the services of star forward Son Heung-min, who was suspended for clash while the trio of Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen were in the starting XI against their former employers.
