Lionel Messi was left behind at Anfield by the Barcelona team bus after their UCL defeat as the Spanish side quickly left for the airport.

According to citing Spanish media outlet 'El Chiringuito', the club captain was held behind by anti-doping official to undergo test at Anfield, moments after Blaugrana were sent packing from the UCL by Liverpool last night.

Barcelona team bus had to leave for the airport without Messi ahead of their return flight.

Interestingly, Messi netted a brace in the first leg of semi-finals, but was well checked by Liverpool defenders in the return leg.

Liverpool will now wait for the winner between Ajax and Tottenham for the June 1 UCL final match.

Earlier, reported that Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum netted a brace each as Liverpool thrashed Barcelona 4-0 in the reverse tie of their UCL semi-final clash on Tuesday night, May 7, at Anfield to book a place in the final on 4-3 aggregate.
