Emerging reports have claimed that the Kano state House of Assembly on Monday, May 6, started making moves to create four additional emirates in the state.
The speaker of the House, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, during plenary read a letter brought to the house for consideration by Ibrahim Salisu and others, requesting the House to start a move for creating four additional emirates in the state.
Daily Trust reports that Rurum asked the house to start a move for creating four additional emirates in the state.
The four proposed new emirates are Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya. They are presently being headed by district heads and if upgraded, will have emirs as heads.
The implication of creating additional emirates is that the powers of the present Emir of Kao, Malam Muhammad Sanusi ll, will be reduced.
Legit.ng previously reported that Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state inaugurated a 100-man transition and inauguration committee ahead of May 29, 2019, when the new administration will begin work.
Ganduje who inaugurated the committee at the Government House, Kano, said latter's task was to ensure that the machinery of government continue to roll smoothly.
The governor said the committee was to maintain stability and build on the successes and achievement of the administration, and urged the committee members to use their wealth of experience to assist in meeting set targets.
