The younger sister of the Plateau Polytechnic deputy registrar, Ezekiel Rangs, has been abducted by gunmen.
According to The Punch, the attack was carried out on Monday, May 6, after the gunmen stormed the institution’s staff quarters located at Heipang in Barki Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
Rangs confirmed the attack saying the gunmen invaded the place around 12.10am after they broke the door with a stone.
He said: “We were sleeping when we heard a big bang on the door. Before we knew what was happening, the gunmen were already inside the house. When we discovered that they were armed, we pleaded for them to spare our lives but they took away my younger sister who just gained admission for National Diploma, Social Development.
“When they said we should give them a phone through which we can contact them, I offered to give them my own they refused and instead demanded my wife’s phone and departed. when the incident happened, some soldiers led by one Col. Tanko came to the house within thirty minutes and we told them what happened."
He said the matter has been reported to the police.
This is the second attack on the institution’s staff quarters as a similar one occurred in February where Kim Dido, a twelve-year-old son of the institution’s Chaplain, Reverend Andrew Dido, was kidnapped. He was however released following payment of ransom.
Meanwhile, armed persons suspected to be bandits during the weekend attacked some communities in Zamfara state killing more than 50 people and injuring 31 in the space of three days.
According to the report, the attackers invaded communities under Dangurgu, Kunkilai, Birnin Magaji, in Maru, Gusau and Birnin Magaji local government areas of Zamfara state.
Quoting an unnamed source, the report detailed how the attackers unleashed their terror on Kunkilai village when villagers were attending a naming ceremony.
