Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed he would prefer to avoid EPL rivals Chelsea in the final match of the Europa League and would rather face Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Metro, the two north London neighbours are heading towards all Premier League Europa League final after Arsenal claimed a 3-1 win at Emirates over Valencia, with Chelsea battling to a 1-1 draw in Germany with a vital away goal.
The Gunners suffered an away defeat to the Blues in the second fixture of the EPL campaign, but roared to a decent win during the reverse tie at the Emirates last January.
Despite the performance against Chelsea, Aubameyang insists he does not fancy playing against the Maurizio Sarri tutored-side for a third time this campaign and believes Frankfurt are a more easier opponents to face.
“No, I don’t want them,” Aubameyang was quoted as saying to reporters while responding to the prospect of facing tackling
“We know they are a great team but hopefully first we will go to the final and then I prefer to play Frankfurt, because we have already played against Chelsea.
“I know Frankfurt are really good and if we both go through to the final it will be a hard one,” the Gabonese star added.
At the last count, Aubameyang is two goals behind topscorer Mohamed Salah, in the quest for the EPL Golden Boot and remains upbeat of overtaking the Egyptian superstar
“It’s a tough battle. We have great strikers in the Premier League. Hopefully they won’t keep scoring, but I’m a guy who is confident and I know that I can do it. If I don’t, no worries, that’s no problem. But there are still two games to play in the league so I have my chances. Why not?
“I won it two years ago in Germany, in the last game. Me and [Robert] Lewandowski were level on 30 goals and on the final day I scored a penalty. When you are a striker it means a lot. If you want to be the best you have to win the Golden Boot,” Aubameyang submitted.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Arsenal continued their dominance in the Europa League with a 3-1 win against Valencia on Thursday, May 2.
What looked like a shaky start after Moukhtar Diabaki put the visitors ahead ended up in a terrific night for the North London side as Alexandre Lacazette found the equaliser only six minutes later.
And from then on Arsenal relentlessly piled pressure on Valencia and really started asking questions of the La Liga team's defensive setup.
Lacazette was nice again involved in the main build up and created the second after rounding his mark and provided a brilliant through pass to Pierre Emerick Aubameyang who was at top speed.
