- A religious group, Jama'atu Izalatil Bid'a Wa'ikamatis Sunnah, has issued a strong warning to kidnappers
- The kidnappers have been urged by the group to repent or they would be destroyed by God
- The group's national chairman said they would engage the kidnappers in a spiritual warfare through prayer and fasting sessions
The Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has strictly warned kidnappers across the country to desist from their evil ways.
According to Daily Trust, the group said if the kidnappers refused to repent it would start organising special prayers and fasting sessions until they are destroyed by God.
JIBWIS warned the group on Thursday, May 2, at the opening ceremony of Juma'at mosque located on Zinariya Hill in Jos through its national chairman of Ulama’u Council, Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir.
Jingir said: "Kidnapping is prohibited according to Islam and constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so we are calling on them (kidnappers) to repent.
“If they didn’t we would start organising special prayers and fasting until God heard us and destroy them spiritually.”
Sheikh Jingir described the activities of kidnappers as “callous”, “unislamic” and “inhuman” that "need to be stopped at all cost."
The cleric also asked the government at all levels and security agencies to ensure they curtail the incessant kidnappings in the country.
He also called on government at all levels to provide jobs to the teaming youths in order to curtail the insecurity facing the country.
