Just in: Ganduje fires 33 permanent secretaries

- Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has sacked 33 permanent secretaries in Kano state

- The permanent secretaries have been directed to hand over to the most senior director in their respective ministries, agencies and parastatals

- Sacked officials, and any interested director have been enjoined to reapply/apply for the vacant post by attaching their curriculum vitae

The Kano state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Thursday, May 2, sacked all the serving permanent secretaries in the state civil service.

The Independent reports that the public relations officer to the office Head of Service, Auwalu Muhammad Naiya, confirmed that Kano state had 33 permanent secretaries manning several ministries, agencies, and parastatals.

Legit.ng gathered that a statement signed by Naiya, directed them to hand over to the most senior director in their respective ministries, agencies and parastatals.

The Head of the service, therefore, directed all the affected staff to hand over on or before May 8 to most senior directors.

Naniya explained that the move was in line with Ganduje’s administration resolve to reinvigorate top echelons of Kano civil service.

The statement further explained: "In line with the present administration resolve to vigorously pursue/implement the regime initiatives embarked upon since its inception, and cognizant of the need to further ensure greater efficiency in service, as well as reinvigorate the top echelons of the civil service."

He, however, enjoined sacked officials, and any interested director to reapply/ apply for the vacant post by attaching their curriculum vitae.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano, on Thursday, April 11, filed a petition against the victory of Governor Abdullahi Umar Gabduje at the recent gubernatorial election in the state.

The petition was filed exactly 20 days after the declaration of Governor Ganduje as winner of the March 23, governorship election.
