Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has praised Barcelona forward Lionel Messi for his performance against his side in the Champions League on Wednesday night, May 1.

“When you come up against Messi and he produces his best form you can't do anything. I'm grateful that I'm not in Spain and I don't have to face him every season.
“He scored two goals and I was very disappointed. He won the battle but not the war,'' Dijk said according to Goal.
Liverpool will now have to up their game in the second leg against Barcelona at Anfield after conceding three goals at Nou Camp.
