Heavily armed bandits attacked a Government Girls Secondary School in Moriki town of Zamfara state and kidnapped six people on Wednesday, May 1.
According to an eye witness who spoke to BBC on anonymity, the bandits came in large numbers in the night, carrying very sophisticated weapons.
The vigilante disclosed that the bandits were able to abduct six people but were not able to reach students hostels after shooting another person dead in town.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that seven suspected bandits were killed by residents of Birnin Magaji local government area of Zamfara state after they reportedly visited the emery for peace talk.
It was reported that their cows which were suspected to be rustled were confiscated.and kept at the emir’s palace in Birnin Magaji. However, early last week, the cattle were taken to Gusau, the state capital.
Seven of the bandits and an official of the State Security Service (SSS) came to the emir’s palace to plead for the release of the cows.
The emir, Husseini Dan-Ali, was in Kaduna when the suspected bandits came and his secretary, Muhammadu Mai-inji, had a meeting with them.
Residents, however, got wind of the meeting and reportedly laid siege for the suspected bandits and lynched them after they came out of the palace from the meeting.
